Tequisquiapan is the perfect choice.
Location: Tequisquiapan is considered the geographical center of Mexico and is located in the state of Queretaro. Queretaro is one of the most progressive states
in Mexico its promoting modern agricultural methods and the establishment of vineyards; investing in tourism; and encouraging foreigin businesses (in fact, Queretaro
has become the

aerospace capital of the country) The highways are in excellent condition, and there are many interesting destinations within a day’s drive (see Nearby Dewstinations below).
Tequisquiapan is a twenty five minute drive from an international airport and only twenty minutes from an interstate sistem which
reaches north to Texas and south through Mexico city and beyond.
Climate: Tequisquiapan sits on a high plateau near de Sierra Madre Oriental. The countryside calls to mind the area surrounding Tucson Arizona. Because the altitude
is 1860 meters (6400 feet), the air is dry and the nights are cool. Summer temperatures average 24-30 degrees C. (75-86 degrees F.), but even when the temperature
occasionally climbs higher, air conditioning is unnecessary. Winter temperatures can range anywhere from 0-24 degrees C.(32-75 degrees F.) but rarely dip below freezing.
Geraniums, impatiens, bougainvilleas, and many other flowers bloom all year long and most trees maintain their foliage throughout the winter months.
Cost of Living: Are you searching for the San Miguel de Allende of twenty years ago, before the traffic and expensive real estate? Many expatriates live in Tequis
(as it is called by the locals), but this unique and picturesque town has yet to be “discovered” and real estate is still bargain. Here you can own property, unlike the
coastal resorts of Mexico, where foreigners are only allowed to lease. Medical expenses and property taxes, as well as the cost of food, domestic help, and gasoline are
much lower in Mexico than they are in Canada, The United States or Europe; so retirement and other income stretches farther.
Infrastructure: The total population of Tequisquiapan and several small villages in the surrounding area is 55,000. The town has excellent public, private, and
international shools; quality hospitals; a variety of places to worship; markets; movie theaters; cable and satellite TV, internet service; and convenient banking with
HSBC, Banamex (Citibank) Scotia Bank, and Bancomer |

One of the charms of tequis is that it remains a small-town, without heavy traffic, industrialization, and mega-chain stores. However, when you need a special item that is
unavailable in Tequis, the industrial city of San juan del Rio is an easy 15 minutes drive, offering Sam’s and several giant supermarkets. If you tire of small-town events
or need a shooping mall fix, the beautifull colonial city of Queretaro (the capital of the state of Queretaro) is a mere 45 minutes away. There you can find plays, concerts,
upscale restaurants, high-end department stores, and the big American chains like Costco, Sam’s, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Ofice max and , of course, McDonalds.

In the heart of Tequis is a lovely plaza and neoclassic-style church. The town features many activities, such as free lectures and concerts; art, music and dance classes; and
religious and cultural festivals. For one week in May, The Annual Wine and Cheese festival attracts visitors from throughout the region. You can enyoy the best wines of mexico,
as well as wines from other parts of the world; listen to a variety of entertainment; and participate in daily tastings and events.
Tequis is famous for its thermal waters, with several swimming spas located just a short drive from town. This , along with quaint village ambience, has made it a popular
weekend destination. Tourists come to buy baskets, and the wicker and rattan furniture made in small factories. There are hotels for every budget, a variety of restaurants,
and small shops filled whit arts and crafts. You can enyoy anything from a ride on horseback to a ride in a hot-air ballon. From late morning through the evening, both tourists
and locals gather in the central plaza to shop, eat, sip coffe at outdoor cafés; sit on park benches, or listen to a concert.
Although the weekends are sometimes busy, during the week Tequis takes on a casual pace. Bougainvillea-lined streets invite walking and passersby greet you with a smile and
“buenos días”. Friendly people, bright blue skies, clean air, temperate weather, and a tranquil atmosphere all combine to offer a confortable quality of life; free of the crime;
traffic, tensions, and other inconveniences of a large city.

Nearby Destinations: Many interesting places to visit are within an easy drive from Tquisquiapan
- Mexico City is the secons largest city in the world, with great museums, beautiful colonial buildings, and a world famous park (2 hours)

- Bernal is a “Pueblo magico” famous for the third largest monilith in the world (40 minutes)

MIGUEL HIDALGO PLAZA:
Explanada rodeada de arcos de cantera, con un kiosco construido a
principios de siglo. En sus portales, se encuentran diversos
restaurantes y cafés en los cuales puedes disfrutar de sus muy
variados platillos, visitar las tiendas de artesanías o simplemente
disfrutar de un tranquilo atardecer.

SANTA MARIA DE LA ASUNCIÓN TEMPLE:
Hermoso templo que fue construido a lo largo de varias etapas,
desde el siglo XVI. Siendo terminado en 1874, su hermosa fachada es
de estilo neoclásico de columnas de cantera y una linda torre
ubicada a un costado. En la parte superior se encuentra un reloj
que data de 1897.

Monumento de corte moderno que conmemora el decreto que hiciera Don
Venustiano Carranza en 1916 - 1917, en el que declara a

LION`S CLUB:
Edificio que hace algún tiempo era un templo, parte de su torre y
sus cruces están construidas en cantera, hoy en día es un recinto
cultural donde se presentan recitales y obras de teatro siendo de

Tequisquiapan te ofrece un muy agradable recorrido guiado, por el
centro para visitar sitios y monumentos, más importantes del
municipio, con lindas y angostas calles adoquinadas, banquetas de
cantera, ventanas de hierro forjado adornadas con bugambilias en
flor.

LA PILA PARK:
Este hermoso parque se encuentra en lo que en otra época fuera un
antiguo molino; aún se conserva la pila en la que almacenaba agua
que desde 1567. Contando con áreas verdes en donde se han
conservado frondosos ahuehuetes o sabinos.
